WOODSHED JOKER AND FOREST BEINGS

Bark of trees, LEDs, 370 x 250 cm
While walking in the nearby forests, I have picked up pieces of bark that have fallen to the ground from rotting trees. They have taken shape as they dried on my desk. I have reinforced fragile bark with gauze and plaster, and embedded two LED lights in each piece of bark.
My actions have halted the process of decay and decomposition. The bark I have collected has lost the opportunity to support biodiversity, to be a part of life-sustaining interaction and circulation.
The combination of electronics and bark has resulted in exhibits, light-eyed beings who seem to have different emotions. Maybe they're quietly asking what we are doing, wondering what we are really aiming for.

PUUVAJAN VEIJARI JA METSÄN OLIOITA
TÄÄLLÄ, Onoman kesänäyttely, Kuparipaja, Fiskars 2021
Puiden kaarna, LEDvalo, 370 x 250 cm
Lähimetsissä kuljeskellessani olen poiminut lahopuista maahan pudonneita kaarnan palasia.
