The site-specific installation Fairies and Buttons for Giants is part of the Arts Council of Uusimaa NEW! artist project.
The school's staircase offers step-by-step shifting views and perspectives for the work. For example, the work entices you to play on scale, dive into the giant's pants or to do imaginative jumps under the protection of the queen's magic wand. A Finnish saying, everything is going great, "kaikki menee nappiin - everything goes to the button", is just true in the fairy forest.
T. Kujala's fine painting (in 1947) for teaching shows a fresh coniferous forest of the blueberry type. It has served as a model for the fairy forest, linking the installation to the school world.
Over the years, different kind of buttons have accumulated in the needlework box. Some buttons have been selected visual source material of the work as well as a few fairies of the picture books, familiar to everyone.
